"Its not my job to make the project my project. Its my job to make your project more yours. If you can’t see yourself in the outcome we’ve made... I failed."
This is the approach I take with every single record I touch. I believe people have better outcomes when they have someone helping them on their journey that is a guide figure. My role is to guide the process I’m involved in towards an outcome you fall in love with. Through this process you learn a bit more and are transformed. Not only is the outcome right but the experience of the process has grown you. You take something with you that you may not have learned any other way.
I've been in the music industry for over 20 years now, and if there's one thing that's kept me here, it's this: I care about the songs I work on like they're my own. That combination — real craft paired with real care for the people I'm working with — is what's kept me in demand for more than two decades, and it's why I get to be both a producer/mixer and, on good days, a mentor to the artists who walk through my studio doors.
Over the years, I've helped hundreds of independent and label-level artists bring their music to life. Together, the records I've worked on have crossed 500 million streams, charted as high as #4 on the Billboard Top 200, and hit #1 at radio in the US, Canada, Germany, and Australia. I've got gold-certified credits as both a producer and mixer, and songs I've co-written have landed in campaigns for American Airlines, ASICS, MTV, HBO Max, Netflix, Disney, CBS, NBC, and ESPN.
It all started simply — I was just a kid who loved playing bass. That love turned into a career I never could have planned for: touring as the bassist for Sanctus Real, then producing and mixing Billboard-charting, award-nominated, and award-winning records. I've been doing this since 2005, splitting my time between Michigan and Nashville along the way.
In 2013, while I was still juggling life on the road and life in the studio, I founded Social Recording Company — a studio built around the kind of culture and creative environment I always wished existed. It's still my home base today, and I love that it gets to serve both the wider music industry and the local creative community I call home.
Music's never just been a job for me. I still make it myself — as the artist behind my solo project Ghost Kingdoms, and as a member of LO CLOUD, a band I started with Sanctus Real's original lead singer Matt Hammitt and former Kutless guitarist and songwriter Nick DePartee.
